Engaging students aged from 8 to 18 in careers to shape the world around them.

The Built Environment Schools Trust (www.beschoolstrust.com) is delighted to announce that it has now launched, on www.memf.careers, its national competition for 2026.

This year the theme is technology with students invited to “Think Smart, Live Green” and
consider how a part of the built environment near them can be improved using technology to
shape a sustainable built environment.

New this year, in line with the launch of MEMF curriculum materials for Key Stage 2 (in primary schools) and Key Stage 3 (in secondary schools), a new category of prizes is provided for Primary students. Prizes of Amazon Vouchers will be given to students providing the entries selected by our industry judges in each of 4 categories;

As with all the resources provided by BE Schools Trust there is no charge.

With the dramatic rise in the number of schools downloading the materials we are hoping for a
bumper year of excellent entries, and a record number of young people exploring how the built
environment around them can be used to improve the lives of those in their communities.

In previous years we have had entries looking at a stretch of the seafront, rundown community
centres and damp corners of school playing fields and are excited to see what our creative and enthusiastic young people will come up with in 2026.

We believe that it is our duty to bring careers in this amazing sector to life for as many young
people as possible, and are always looking for new ways to get the opportunities out there. We
are also pleased therefore to announce that again in 2026 we will provide an award for the most innovative use of the MEMF materials by a teacher.

We are grateful to the CIOB who have sponsored the prizes for KS3 & 4 and encourage anyone in the sector to make any teachers they have links with to join the competition; it is remarkable how little is know about, probably the largest sector in the economy!

My Environment My Future is a package of free educational materials and resources provided
for use in schools to support and enrich the teaching of Geography, providing a career path for Geography and bringing information about Built Environment careers directly into the
