Building on our success in educating young people about careers in the built environment and fostering sector-wide collaboration, we are excited to announce a new name for the CSTT: the Built Environment Schools Trust.
This strategic move reinforces our commitment to creating a diverse talent pipeline through enhanced educational outreach, promoting sector-wide collaboration, and helping individuals from underrepresented backgrounds overcome barriers to industry entry.
The Trust has achieved remarkable results through its My Environment My Future (MEMF) programme, reaching over 600 teachers and 50,000 students since its 2020 pilot launch. A key innovation is the programme’s integration of built environment careers education into the core geography curriculum, making it both accessible and efficient for teachers and students. The Trust provides comprehensive support, including materials and resources for career talks, enabling employers and professional bodies to strengthen their educational engagement initiatives. The Trust aims to connect every school across the UK with a built environment professional, bridging the gap between the sector and education.
To further support the sector, we equip employees with materials and resources to deliver confident career talks and provide MEMF resources for teachers to continue built environment careers education. Our programme empowers employers and professional bodies to initiate or enhance their school engagement efforts. It’s flexible and can be tailored to complement existing initiatives.
The name change arrives at a crucial time when the sector faces skills shortages and an aging workforce. Through this unified approach, the Built Environment Schools Trust aims to create a more coordinated and measurable impact on developing future talent for the built environment sector.
Together, we can create a stronger, more diverse talent pipeline for the built environment sector. Contact us to learn more about how we can collaborate and make a lasting impact on the future of our industry.
